We joined because the Filipino people have to do it; not that we’re nationalistic but because we do not want to tolerate cheaters. If small stores humiliate shoplifters by posting their pictures and names on the shop doors, we do the same thing to corrupt public officials. Or to use the more gut-cringing term, public servants.

We joined not because we didn’t have anything else to do on a holiday (clearly, we have work and school stuff to do) but because something has to be done about the situation. The universe made it clear that there was no actual reason for us not to attend.
